Seat Confirms New Sedan Will Be Called Exeo

We've reported before that Seat will be launching a new D-segment model in 2009 that will sit alongside the Toledo and based on the old Audi A4.

Today Seat confirmed in an announcement that the new model will be named Exeo. The new model will be available as both a sedan and as a family version.

The name follows the brand's Mediterranean roots, it comes from the Latin word "Exire" which means “to go beyond” or “to go further”. It differs from the names of the other models in the Seat range but signals a new direction for the automaker.

The new D segment model will be manufactured at the Martorell plant with next year's Geneva Motor Show a likely debut.

Officially Unveiled: Audi A4 Avant

Audi has officially unveiled the A4 Avant, station wagon variant of the highly anticipated mid-size sedan. Its first public appearance will happen at the Geneva Motor Show, with sales soon after that in Germany. Besides the new looks, the A4 Avant is 12 cm bigger than its predecessor (reaching 4.70 m long) and its luggage compartment now holds up to 490 l.

The new station wagon will have two petrol engines and two diesels. The petrol engines will be the 1.8 TFSI, generating 160 hp, and the 3.2 FSI, the most powerful of the line, delivering 265 hp. Concerning the diesel units, the entry level is the 2.0 TDI, which has two specifications, the first one with 143 hp and the second with 170 hp. The top engine is the 3.0 TDI, generates 240 hp and to take the A4 Avant to a maximum speed of 250 km/h and from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 s.

It seems the A4 Avant will continue the success of the sedan. The A4 line is expecting to have even more additions, such as the Allroad version recently spied.

Spy Shots: Audi A4 Allroad

Except the Q7 the only vehicle in Audi's lineup that offers a Allroad version is the A6 Avant. But this will be changed soon with the smaller A4 Avant based A4 Allroad.

Though it was rumored before, with these spy pictures taken in Sweden an Allroad version of the A4 is now confirmed. Yes, the car you see in the picture above is a new Audi A4. But that's so only because the new A4 Avant wasn't debuted yet. The sedan body is used only for testing. The raised ride height, snow tires and thick fender flares are clearly visible.

Though Audi traditionally has only ever offered its Allroad lineup in wagon form, a soft-road sedan could be good too. Engine choices may match those of the A6 allroad, with the 2.0 TDI and 1.8 TFSI.

More Audi A4 Pictures

The new Audi A4 has already revealed. We've seen a lot before the car debuted. The car carries some similar styling cues to A5 Coupe.

Available engines will include a smattering of petrol and diesel options, the base motor being a 1.8TFSI and the top end mill a 265-hp 3.2L FSI V6. The interior appears to be typical Audi.
