Geneva 2008 Preview: Chevrolet Aveo Hatchback

Chevrolet will introduce the facelifted 3-door Aveo hatchback to Euro-market at the Geneva Motor Show next month. The car is briefly the Aveo5 without the doors for second-row passengers. The rear windows pop open for ventilation and power is supplied by an 84-horse 1.2L or a 1.4L that generates 101 hp.

The interior styling is the same with the 5-door version with similar visuals like gigantic grille, fake fender vents at the exterior.

Video: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet has unveiled its new LAMBDA based crossover Traverse at Detroit. The Lambda platform İs shared with the well received Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia, and Saturn Outlook. Powered by a 3.6L engine and offered with optional all wheel drive, the new CUV has some similar design cues to recently unveiled Malibu sedan.

The Traverse should reach dealer showrooms by the end of the year.

Chicago 2008: Chevrolet Traverse

We know already everything about the 2009 Chevy Traverse. 2009 Traverse is the fourth Lambda-platform crossover from General Motors, whose features have been introduced already in the GMC Acadia, Saturn Outlook and Buick Enclave. The Traverse is a roomy seven( or eight)-passenger crossover with a well-organized cockpit, which is similar to its siblings.

Power, like the other Lambdas, comes from the 3.6L V6 with direct injection (mated with a 6-speed automatic transmission), which makes 281hp/253 lb-ft or 286hp/255 lb-ft. GM promises "best in class" fuel economy. The Traverse is not the ugliest Lambda crossover, but it's not the most beautiful either. In front, the big Chevy grille is the dominant element, flanked by some rather angry-looking headlamps. The travers has similar design cues to Chevy Malibu. In profile, the Traverse looks similar to the Enclave. The rear end is highlighted by some very funky-looking taillights.

The crossover will be offered with both 2WD and AWD available. The car will be on sale in this summer.

Spy Shots: Chevy Camaro Spied In Australia

The new Chevrolet Camaro was spotted on an open trailer somewhere in Australia. With these pictures, the place of the fuel door revealed. The fuel door of the concept was perched the door on top of the driver's side rear fender. But the spy shot indicates that the fuel door of the Camaro will be perched the passenger side rear fender.

And with these photos we have a clear look on taillights too. Which we can see in these images are red on the inside and amber on the outside. The taillights also appear to be colored specifically for the Australian market. Australian Design Rule 6 calls for all amber direction indicators. That explains the change from all red taillights.

The Camaro is expected to go on sale in early 2009, with a likely debut at Detroit next year. Will be powered by a 6.0L V8 engine.

First Generation Chevy Volt To Cost $40,000

Bob Lutz, the vice chairman of GM, tells Wired News the Volt will be cost for more than the originally estimate of $30,000. But how much more? Costs might go down on the second-generation Volt but Lutz leaves open a price close to $40,000 for the first-gen Volts. Here is exactly what he said:

WN: What's the target market for the car? Will it be a high-end car, a mid-range car?
Lutz: I've always said I'd like to be able to sell it at around $30,000. The way things look now, it doesn't look like that's going to be possible. It looks like it's going to be more.
WN: How much more?
Lutz: I don't know. You'd like to have it at about $30,000 for the customer, but what I'm hearing from the team is we're not going to get there. They say we might get there on the second generation, and they say if they had a lot more time they might be able to cost-optimize it. I don't want to wait for cost optimization. I'd rather come out in 2010, and if it costs closer to 40 than 30, well, that's too bad.
WN: When will we get to the see the new Volt design?
Lutz That I can't tell you. Sooner rather than later. I'll just say that.

Hopefully the design change of the Volt won't be so big. Because most people won!'t pay so much money on a bland looking car.
