Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz GLK Production Version

We've already seen Mercedes' GLK Freeside and Townside concepts, so there's not much left to the imagination. Set to go on sale later this year, the GLK, caught here during winter testing, keeps design of the concepts.

The differences are in the details. The tester displays a less ornate grille and foglight setup, and the roof rack is also less complex.

Detroit 2008 Preview: Mercedes GLK Freeside Concept

Detroit Auto Show is right around the corner, and what Mercedes will be unveiled there is the car you'll see above.

The GLK Freeside Concept is more of a pre-production prototype than a design study, and is tipped to closely mirror what the production GLK will look like. The new Mercedes GLK will have a BLUETEC four-cylinder diesel, 7G-TRONIC seven-speed automatic transmission and a new 4MATIC all-wheel drive.

The Mercedes GLK Freeside Concept will be on the floor when 2008 Detroit Auto Show begins on Sunday, January 13th.

Spy Shots: Mercedes-Benz GLK

The Mercedes-Benz GLK, new compact CUV of the German marque's, spotted on Sex And The City set. The car wasn't supposed to be seen in public until the Geneva Motor Show in March. Without all of the covering, it's now apparent just how GLK's styling is.

The GLK will not be sold in right-hand-drive markets like the UK because its 4Matic four-wheel-drive system can't be made to work with the steering wheel on the right. The car will be offered with a smattering of engines, including two gas-powered V6s, a diesel V6 and diesel four-cylinder.

With the GLK there will be a bunch of compact CUV offerings on the market. So which one is less ugly?
