Subaru will be showing off its 147-hp diesel boxer in the Legacy and Outback next month in Geneva. It's rumored that the Japanese automaker is considering to put its new diesel engine to Impreza WRX.
When the Australia's Drive asked Subaru about a possible diesel WRX, the company responded with "We're looking into it".
It appears that 2.0L turbo-diesel powerplant is a big success for Subaru. During the first test drive of the diesel Legacy, the UK's Autocar said that the sedan may sport the best diesel they've ever driven. Since Subaru is looking to improve its fuel economy, it could be good that the engine makes a round through the automakers lineup. The Forester could be a good target, too. With 258 lb-ft and compact measures, the fuel-efficient powerplant would definitely work in the WRX.
