Spy Shots: Peugeot 308 CC

With the 206 CC, the first affordable coupé cabriolet on the market, Peugeot has started a trend. After this product, many car manufacturers have followed Peugeot's steps. The French automaker now wants to continue its success in the segment it has helped to create. And the CC version of the new 308 is being prepared for that reason.

The car was caught in cold winter testing in northern Sweden, the car wears a much heavier camouflage to disguise the well known lines of the CC versions Peugeot produces. Aside the familiar Peugeot CC lines , the typical “feline” headlights and the taillights confirm the future car will be inspired in the 308 RC Z Concept.

Besides the foldable hardtop and the current engines used by the 308, the main attraction the 308 CC is expected to offer is the diesel hybrid propulsion system. In fact, it may be a world first. If this hybrid version will ever go into the production is something we may have to wait a little longer to confirm, but the 308 CC is expected to be in the dealers by spring 2009. The official presentation of the car will held at the Paris Motors Show, in October.

Detroit 2008: Volkswagen Unveils The Passat CC

After months of informed speculation and spy shots, Volkswagen finally revealed its CLS-inspired Passat. The four-door coupe is based off the Passat platform and carries over several of the standard sedan's cues, but the sleek shape of the plummeting C-pillar, shortened rear overhang and revised fascia make it considerably more upmarket.

When the Passat CC goes on sale later this year, it will be fitted with the 3.6-liter FSI V6 making around 300 hp, along with three selectable chassis control systems, spanning the range from Sport to Normal and Comfort.

Volkswagen will also begin offering its own version of the Park Assist feature on the CC, similar to the system used on the Lexus LS460.
