Audi Q5 To Be Offered As Hybrid First

The head of Audi’s dealer council has revealed some information about the upcoming Q5 crossover. According to this council the Q5 will compete mainly with BMW’s X3 and Acura’s RDX. They have no fear that the Q5 will steal sales away from its larger sibling Q7.

Unlike the American Q7 which is expected to be offered with a diesel engine in the near future, Audi will first be offering a hybrid powertrain in the Q5. The reason that they don't offer a diesel engine in the Q5 is that it would cost $2000 extra, effectively pricing it out of the segment.

Auto Bild Unveils Audi Q5

After breaking the embargo of the VW Routan, German car magazine Auto Bild has this time unveiled the Audi Q5. Well we're not sure if these are official images from Audi or just good photoshops.

The front end seems to be a nice mixture of the Audi A4 and the Q7 fascias, while everything aft of the A-pillar looks like the Q5's big brother at two-thirds scale. The rear light seems like carried over from Audi's show vehicles, including the Cross Cabriolet Concept.

The Audi Q5 will be officially unveiled next month in Geneva.
